“Burst!” went the water supply line in your Cleveland home!

Flooding can happen from a burst washing machine water supply line. The washer doesn’t have to be running for the supply line to burst, in fact the washer being “on” has nothing to do with it.
Water runs to your fixtures thru pipes that come from behind the wall or floor. At the point they exit the wall or floor, these pipes have shut-off valves. Supply lines are attached to these valves and run to the fixtures and appliances in your kitchen, laundry and bathroom.
The water supply lines that run from the shut-off valves to your washing machine are always under pressure, meaning you turn the washer on and water immediately comes out. Those supply lines are usually made of PVC or rubber which can crack, rot, and/or rupture.
When the supply line ruptures, it can cause a pressurized geyser of water that will run until the valve is shut off which can flood your house and cause water damage.
